Sumy State University continues the series of training seminars concerning the activities’ planning of the ‘Family-Friendly University’ initiative

On April 22nd - 23d, 2015 the training seminars concerning the activities’ planning of the ‘Family-Friendly University’ initiative will take place in Poltava State Agrarian Academy.

The training seminars, devised on the basis of the best practices of the International Labour Organization, are held within the ‘Equal opportunities in getting profession for young mother-students in higher educational establishments’ project, funded by the European Union. The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine are the official partners of the project.

The training seminars include:

- sharing the experience of Sumy State University and the presentation of foreign universities’  best practices concerning the implementation of  family-friendly initiatives;

- interactive training seminars that demonstrate the relevance and significance of the issues and allow to realize the inaction’s influence on overcoming the conflict between studying and family responsibilities;

-  the promotion of understanding a family-friendly policy;

- the refutation of the common myths, stereotypes and mistakes concerning the combination of studying and family responsibilities;

- making an action plan for an implementation of specific family-friendly approaches in universities.

The administration of the universities, the faculty staff, dealing with the issues of the extracurricular students’ work, students and young mother-students make the target group of the project. As a result, one expects the growing initiative to create family-friendly conditions in the universities.
