June 27, the Club of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine hosted a ceremony celebrating the winners of the National Competition "Volunteer of the Year 2012". First place in the category "Health and healthy lifestyle" obtained postgraduate student of the department of philosophy, political science and innovative social technologies of Sumy State University Yulia Savelyeva.
For significant contributions to the development of Ukrainian society volunteering Center "goodwill" said best volunteer initiatives that have been implemented throughout Ukraine during 2012. The competition was held for the purpose of rooting civic culture and social practices of volunteerism and philanthropy, providing favorable conditions for their development, recognition of the work of volunteers and concerned citizens who implement change in their community, as well as more active dissemination and promotion of volunteerism in all regions of Ukraine.
To participate in the contest was nominated about 200 people who were engaged in volunteer activities in civic, charitable organizations and government agencies. As a result, the winners were selected in the 7th and nominations.
"My volunteer work is to promote and support breastfeeding in Sumy community - I spend my free weekly lessons and advice for parents. This activity appeared in my life as a vocation from the time when I became a mother herself. Support other young families in their endeavor parent feel extremely necessary because, unfortunately, family continuity in the transfer of experience caring for an infant is largely lost.
If I know what you can rectify the young mother, I simply wish to ignore the knowledge and experience that I once got from those enthusiasts worldwide movement in support of breastfeeding. I am extremely pleased that the Competition Commission said my work that I can be useful to someone, for I have found the use of their skills. Furthermore, in my work I always realise that volunteering - mutually beneficial for giving to others - we get ourselves "- says Yulia.
Competition "Volunteer of the Year 2012" was held with the support of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine and the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden and the GURT Resource Center.
