Father’s Day is an annual holiday in honour of fathers which is celebrated in most countries of the world. For the first time it was celebrated on the 19th of June, 1910 in the USA. Soon other countries where the respect to the family values was pronounced began to celebrate this day honouring a man-father. In Ukraine the tradition to celebrate Father’s Day on the 3rd Sunday of September was established in 2006.

On the occasion of Father’s Day a city school project contest “My loving and caring father” was held in Sumy State University. The aim of the contest is to promote the role of a husband-father in society, to make fathers be aware of significance of active involvement of both parents in the upbringing of the child.

“The main point of our contest was to motivate children and fathers to think about the value of relationships between children and fathers, everyday father’s intercommunion with family. Loving and caring parents are the basis for the harmonious development of the child.

The biggest mark on the psyche of the child is left by the things he heard and felt in the family. No matter what features of character father has, his psychic well-being, his being interested in his child, his benevolent attitude, his openness and participation in child’s life will always bring positive results and make father and child real friends”, - notes the psychologist Ludmila Kolisnuk.
