A round table on social control and self-regulation in the advertising industry

Sumy State University in partnership with the Ukrainian Association of Marketing and Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Ukraine held a round table on "The Regional Representation of the Industrial Committee on Gender Advertising in Sumy region".

The round table was attended by Irina Lylyk, CEO of Ukrainian Marketing Association, which presented the objectives, principles organizing the work and achievements of the Industrial Gender Committee in advertising.

Advisor to the Chairman of the Sumy Regional State Administration Victor Bobyrenko stressed on the principles of state policy to prevent all forms of discrimination, including gender.

Director of the Gender Resource Centre of Sumy State University Nina Svitailo focused on the importance of  cooperation of scientists, government and public on the prevention of discriminatory in advertising. Head of Marketing department of SSU Sergey Illyashenko presented objectives and work plans of  Industrial Gender Committee in advertising in Sumy region.

During round table were discussed ways of cooperation between civil society, the Regional Office of IGCA, government agencies and organizations in order to prevent the spread of sexism in advertising and formation in a gender-sensitive information environment.
