This year "Family Support Center" which operates at Sumy State University turns 3 years. Project leaders summed up the work and talked about the prospects for development.

No one wants to mention the hardships. But through it all begins.

The project team chooses to tell the public about the work performed, the progress and opportunities for the future. Difficulties is the necessary element of any development. After all, when there are obstacles - they want to overcome and comes something grand.

Three whales of initiative

Every story has its starting point. Usually it is associated with a particular name. This special name for initiative "Family friendly university" is Nina Svitaylo. She laid the first brick building "Family Support Center" of Sumy State University.

- I have never tried to recall difficulties. I think that if something is done, therefore, it was possible to do. As for this had to overcome - no matter.

Nina Svitaylo stresses 3 main ideas which are designed to implement this initiative:

1) project "grown up" in the University of the needs of its students and staff. Will grant or will not be, the initiative will continue to grow, aside from temporary projects, we have the main field of activity, which is unlimited in time and independent of donors. Thus, we were able to create a socially oriented university. Therefore, we can not exclude the implementation of similar initiatives in other universities in Ukraine;

2) center can take advantage of all that somehow relates to  Sumy State University. But these services have a wide range: the caregiver for the child, the various consultations, involving a healthy lifestyle, recreation, preparation for parenthood, training, etc.;

3) gradual withdrawal of the project beyond one university to increase its scope. This growth not only at the national but also all-European.

We are actively planning to conduct the audit in Ukraine experience: check competent people (including members of our team) universities for the possibility of creating "Family Support Center". But not only that. Also in our plans to merge several departments of the University for a course in media literacy lessons from the advertising (in order to prevent violence and deviations in the psyche of children). During the activity we appear all new and new initiatives. We remember that our project is not provided by law, but not prohibited. 

Time to gather stones?

Within three years of the project was carried out many actions, workshops, competitions and conferences. Also Sumy State University initiative "Family friendly university" was awarded by the Foundation of Eastern Europe; delegation of "Family Support Center" visited Germany to exchange experiences to create an environment friendly for families; created a documentary on the student's family 'teaching and love together! "; Yulya Savelyeva won the nomination contest "Volunteer of the Year 2012"; received a prize at the National Competition video presentations "Visualize your actions" etc.

This is the only basement!

Team "Family Support Center" believes that such an initiative should be in every organization. But quite often goes like this: people see the need to create such a project, but perseverance for its implementation are lacking. That is why "Family friendly university" at Sumy State University implementing proactive and extends the idea of it - maybe for everyone.
