September 19, in Sumy State University the press conference dedicated to the celebration of Father’s Day in Sumy region was held.

On the occasion of  the Ukrainian initiative „Father’s Day“ the competition of creative school works called „My loving and caring father“ was held in Sumy region in September. The organization and holding  of this competition took place due to the joint efforts of a civic organization „The Intelligence of Sumy region“, the Youth and Sports Management of Sumy Regional State Administration, the Department of Education and Science of Sumy RSA, the project of Sumy State University „The levels of possibilities of acquisition of the professions by young mothers-students in the institutions of higher education“. The results of the competition were presented at the press conference. 265 pupils of 1-11 forms in Sumy and Sumy region participated in it. The pupils of the elementary school contested a drawing competition and senior pupils contested an essay competition.

12 pupils, the winners of the competition, and their families took part in the press conference. In general, the best 57 contestants also were noted there.

The best works were marked with the image of the special atmosphere of the mutual interaction between the father and his child, their common activity and understanding each other. The gender expert, one of the juries of the contest, Andriana Kostenko claimed that today people don’t value father’s role as an educator in the family as they should. So, such events as Father’s Day must helpto admit fathers‘ role.

The leader of the project „New traditions in Sumy region: we celebrate Father’s Day“ Yulya Savelyeva noticed: „A  generation ago fathers didn’t see their role in the child care, so now both fathers and their kids have to look for the positive examples of imitation. Perhaps now it’s the main challenge“.

The head of the trade union organization of Sumy State University Valentyna Borovyk congratulated all the fathers of the University, who strive for the best for their children, wives, families and generally for Ukraine.

The contest was fulfilled in the contex of the project of civic organization „The Intelligence of Sumy region“, „New traditions of the Sumy region: we celebrate Father’s Day“ with the financial support of public finance of Sumy region (Youth and Sports Management of Sumy Regional State Administration), civil organization, a project of Sumy State University „The levels of possibilities of acquisition of the professions by young mothers-students in the institutions of higher education“.
