Trainings on the "Family Friendly University " initiative implementation were held in Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi

During October, the 15-18th the team of the project "Equal opportunities for getting a profession for young mother-students in higher educational establishments" conducted trainings on implementation of the initiative "Family Friendly University" for the representatives of  higher educational establishments  in Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions.

In Ivano-Frankivsk events occurred at the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, in Chernivtsi - in Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.

Traditionally the peculiarities of different target groups were taken into account. Thus, workshops with a focus on benefits, facilities, mechanisms and resources of the initiative, which has already worked out by the project team in the implementation of family-friendly approaches in the SSU were conducted for the administration of higher educational establishments.

Separately, the project team worked with the associate deans of educational work, academic groups tutors, psychologists and other staff members who work with students and provide the necessary communications to facilitate the combination of family and educational responsibilities. The very active work was observed in groups of students - both representatives of student-governments and young mothers- / fathers-students. The issuesthat were discussed and worked at during the seminarsprovoked special interest of this category of participants. That’s why the activity was quite high.

In addition, students offered a range of interesting approaches, the implementation of which, no doubt, will improve the situation with the accessof existing conditions to the real needs of students and staff who have, or plan to have childrenin the universities of the region.

It should be mentioned that trainings in Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi showed typical for other Ukraine regions situation: most of the problems with providing equal opportunities in education lie in the plane of motivation and establishing communications between different departments of the university, as well as cooperation with trade unions. Usually the necessary financial and human resources already exist, and the potential effect of the improvement of social services-oriented university is essential both to establish a positive climate in the team, and for proforientation work and the image of the HHE.
