Marie-Pierre Moreau considers the place of care and carers in higher education and asks if student parents need more support

In SSU, interim results were presented for the project “Equal opportunities for getting profession by young mother-students in higher education establishments.” Project partners from all over Ukraine gathered in SSU in the last week of September in order to hear about the experiences of those who are creating university environments which promote a balanced combination of family and education/work. 

The project initiated at Sumy State University a public campaign "Family friendly university" 

During the last week of September, the project “Equal opportunities in getting profession for young mother-students in higher educational establishment (HEE)” will launch at Sumy State University a campaing "Family Friendly University". A number of events will highlight the interim results. Colleagues from other High Educational Institutions all over the Ukraine, partners to the project, are invited to participate.

Sometimes in our busy days there’s little opportunity for any connection that lasts more than a few seconds. I may send and respond to dozens of tweets and emails, “like” some posts on Facebook, text my kids, say a quick hello to the neighbors, and trade voicemails with my sister. But each of these interactions is superficial and usually lasts just a few seconds.

Supporting mother-students, providing gender equality and creating comfortable environment for successful combination of learning with family building are the priorities of “KROK” University. These aspirations are implemented in various initiatives, thus University develops projects, looks for partners, establishes fruitful cooperation etc.
